 The water released from Singur project on Wednesday afternoon reached Edupayala Temple in Medak district by evening forcing the temple authorities of Edupayala Vana Durga Bhavani to close down the temple.

Edupayala Durga Bhavani Temple is located at the confluence of seven streams.

As the waters flow in from seven directions they enter the temple from an opening and into the feet of Durga Bhavani who presides in the temple.

Meanwhile, hundis, deities and others items were shifted out from temple.The Irrigation authorities at Singur had released 17,800 cusecs of water by lifting two crest gates to downstream on Wednesday.

However, they have shut the gates on Thursday.

Deputy EE at Singur, A Balaganesh said that they have been releasing 1,460 cusecs of water through 15-MW Hydro-electric project by generating power.

Since Ghanpur anicut, a medium irrigation project located at Edupayala, is also overflowing, it has been attracting a huge number of tourists.
